It’s official – I started a podcast

Behind the mirror podcast logoI feel like a proud (and nervous) momma introducing you to my new baby. This has been in the works for a while and I am so excited to officially announce the launch of my new podcast: Behind the Mirror.
As you all know, I love to deep think and enjoy pushing the boundaries of conversation inside our faith communities – but I especially love connecting one on one. I am thrilled to have an opportunity to join you in your car, at your desk or while you are doing laundry and literally talk your ear off (just kidding. I promise I don’t go longer than like 30 minutes…I JUST HAVE SO MANY WORDS TO SAY)

Last year was challenging. I’ve been pretty quiet about I went through, but it needed to be a time of inward sifting, healing and ultimately change. I’ve tried a hundred thousand times to write a blog about that year and I just couldn’t make it work. So, instead, I hit record and just decided to have a conversation. And, it led to more conversations which led to creating this podcast.

The first episode is that first conversation and it is a hard one – but it sets the stage for the episodes ahead.

Preaching comes easy to me, but I feel like right now the world has enough of that. What we need now are more conversations – so, my challenge to myself was to not preach and to just be real. Like, you and me sitting over coffee kind of real. Which, for anyone who has ever tried being exposed in front of someone you don’t know, it is utterly terrifying. (I literally sat in a stress-ball of total fear over 90% of what you will hear in these episodes)

But…..here we go.

I named the podcast Behind the Mirror, because I am so tired of the facade that so many of us feel forced to wear. Many of the cracks inside our communities are beginning to show, but that is GOOD. It is good because it means change is desperately needed. We need community. We need eachother. We need to stop picking at what is different between us and cling to the things we share in common – like fear, shame, lonliness, disappointments, hopes, dreams, etc.

This is my first step to building that bridge. It is an invitation into the real living space of my life (and the lives of amazing upcoming guests) that create sacred ground for pain, fear, doubts, questions and the beauty of divine grace.

Click here to visit the first two episodes. If you like what you hear, please subscribe, share or leave a rating – all these things make the podcast world go around (I’ve been reading up on ALL THINGS PODCAST lately. Sweet Jesus).

Thank you again for sharing this journey with me.

Hugs,

Anna

  1. Nice!! I love podcasts =). I would like to start one myself someday in the future (not anytime soon haha). I have a 3 hour commute each day, and podcasts are my thing. I do all my blog/fiction writing and research from work =). Subscribed, downloaded and Looking forward too it, and have a blessed day.

    • First episode down, and I got to be the first person to rate it on the podcast IPad site woot woot lol. Sounds like a wild ride so far. In my life I generally find that I know if my choices where right by what fruit they produce, however even my most insanely crazy screw ups God uses to his glory. So I just try and do what Is right by gospel and have faith. As for friends, disagreement are not uncommon, even Paul and Barnabas had a falling out, that didn’t stop them from continuing their work. So all is well, and if its not well, God will use it to his Good. So thus the saying “It’s all Good” haha, or something like that. I’ll listen to the next one later today, I gots to get writing!!! Peace

      • Awe, thank you Jerry! Appreciate the feedback and the rating! I’m with you – all is well and all will be well. Happy writing!
